The EY Entrepreneur of the Year – Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia Awards Gala was held on Friday, June 20 at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown Hotel. The gala honored Alpine’s Jan Lehigh and 26 other Finalists from the original pool of over 1,500 area entrepreneurs.
The gala was a spectacular event with beautifully dressed people, champagne toasts, and special confetti – it was made of photos of the Finalists! “It was truly like the red carpet, except for the color was yellow!” Jan said of the event. Large wall decals featuring each Finalist with information about their company were displayed around the hotel. The Finalists and those who nominated them were also honored with a walk around the stage. Jan was nominated by Brian Dandrea of PNC Bank.
Awards were given for Master Entrepreneur, Global Impact, and nine categories of businesses. Alpine Packaging was in the Family Business category, along with William Sarris from Sarris Candies and Jim Ross from Kenny Ross Automotive Group. William Sarris took home the award for the category.
After the awards presentation and a dinner of filet mignon and stuffed salmon, the Finalists and their families ended the night with celebration and dancing.
