So that we may print your label effectively, quickly, and with the highest degree of quality, please review the following specifications:

Computer Files

Please submit a copy of your original file at 100%; provide only the files required for production.

Software Compatibility

The preferred file formats are Macintosh Adobe Illustrator, QuarkXpress, and Photoshop.  We can accept the following PC file formats: Adobe, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

Vector Programs

The preferred vector program is Adobe Illustrator CS3.

  • Save files as .eps, .ai, or .pdf
  • Include all fonts or convert to outline.  Include all fonts used to create design.
  • Where postscript fonts have been used, include both printer and screen fonts.  We recommend a minimum of 6pt.
  • Fine reverse type and process builds on type less than 12 pts are not recommended.
  • Include all placed images and linked graphics, avoid embedding images.
  • Try to draw all logos and artwork when possible rather than placing Photoshop images.
  • Use Adobe Photoshop for photographs and special effects only.

Raster Programs

The preferred raster program is Adobe Photoshop.

  • Save files as .eps, .tif, .bmp, and .psd.  Digital photos may be saved in .jpg format.
  • Provide the highest quality and resolution.
  • Please do not flatted layers with the file.
  • Try to keep logos and type in Vector Programs.

The preferred page layout program is QuarkXpress.

  • Include all fonts.  Please follow same instructions as listed under vector programs.
  • Include all placed images.  In Quark, do a "collect for output."

Other Programs

Save as .eps, .tif, and .pdf if possible.  Please check with Alpine's art department for compatibility.

Colors & Color Matching

List all colors used.  Four color images should be saved in CMYK mode.  If a spot color is used please indicate Pantone number or include swatch to color match.

In order to best reproduce in production, a high resolution color proof is recommended.

Printing Requirements

Printing Requirements for Flexographic and Screen Printing.

  • Keep design .063" (1/16) from edge of diecut, unless design bleeds off designated area.
  • Borders on edge of diecut should be a minimum of .063" (1/16) wide.
  • Bleeds should be extended .063" (1/16) past the diecut.
  • Tints and gradients recommended 10-100% dot.  Any values that run below 10% may not reproduce correctly and will deteriorate the quality of your finished product.
  • Line screen ranges from 65-150 lpi.

Bar Codes, UPCs, and QRs

Bar width reduction should be .001" mil.  We do not guarantee a successful scan of bar codes smaller than 80%.

Trademark Symbols

Trademark symbols should be at least 6 pt. and bold enough to print.  Customer assumes all responsibility for obtaining permission (if needed) to reproduce copyrighted logos and material.

Artwork

Beano's Sauce - variety of labelsDisks – We accept MAC-formatted CDs.  Please include a paper copy printout of artwork on the disk.  Mail to: Alpine Packaging, Inc.  4000 Crooked Run Road, North Versailles, PA 15137.

Email -  Files smaller than 5MB may be e-mailed to: graphics@alpinepackaging.com.  Please include your name, your company name, and all pertinent information regarding the attached project.  Please mail a paper copy printout of the final art.
